      27 January 1829. Admission of Joseph OLDFIELD from the Surrender of John, James, and William LEWIN at a special Court Baron held on 27 January 1829:
      "At this Court It is certified by the said Steward and also presented by the Homage of this Court that John LEWIN of Leverington in the Isle of Ely in the county of Cambridge Farmer and James LEWIN of the same place Farmer (the two only Sons and Coheirs in Gavelkind of John LEWIN late of Leverington aforesaid Farmer deceased who was one of the two only sons and Coheirs in Gavelkind of Richard LEWIN heretofore of Leverington aforesaid Farmer deceased who was the surviving Devisee in trust named in the Will of John STANTON late of West Walton in the County of Norfolk Butcher deceased) and William LEWIN of Leverington aforesaid Farmer (the other of the said two only Sons and coheirs in Gavelkind of the said late Richard LEWIN) and which said John LEWIN (the Surrenderor) James LEWIN and William LEWIN are the now coheirs in Gavelkind of the said Richard LEWIN deceased and also copyhold tenants of the said manor and Trustees according to the custom thereof of the hereditaments thereinafter described and intended to be thereby surrendered for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred pounds of lawful current English money to the said John LEWIN (the Surrenderor) James LEWIN and William LEWIN paid by Joseph OLDFIELD of West Walton aforesaid Farmer the Surrenderee hereinafter named in full for the absolute purchase of the hereditaments thereinafter described and to be applied by them according to the trusts of the said Will of the said John STANTON deceased Did out of Court on this present twenty seventh day of January surrender out of their respective hands into the hands of the Lord of the said manor by the hands of the said Steward by the Rod according to the custom of the said manor all that messuage or tenement and two roods by estimation (more or less) of moll Land adjoining thereto formerly James GARDINERs situate lying and being in West Walton aforesaid in a certain field there called South field next the lands formerly of the heirs of Nicholas REPPS Doctor in Divinity East the Sea Dike west and abutting upon the Common Way north And also all that piece or parcel of land marked (no. 321) lying in the parish of West Walton aforesaid in marshland Smeeth containing two acres three roods and twenty perches (more or less) bounded on the north by an allotment to Humphry WATTS (no. 322.) in the East by the Road no. 16. on the south by an Allotment to John NEWCOME no. 230. and on the west by Allotments to the Lady Jane Trafford SOUTHWELL nos. 297 and 298. and also all that other piece or parcel of land marked no. 371. lying in the Parish of West Walton aforesaid and in marshland fen containing six acres and thirty five perches (more or less) bounded on the north by the Road no. 17. on the East by a Public Drain on the south by an Allotment to Humphrey WATTS no. 370. and on the west by the road no. 18. with the appurtenances And the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders thereof and all the estate right title and interest of each and every of them the said John LEWIN (the Surrenderor) James LEWIN and William LEWIN of in to or out of the said premises or any part thereof To the only proper Use and Behoof of the said Joseph OLDFIELD and of his heirs and assigns forever Now to this Court cometh the said Joseph OLDFIELD and prayeth favour of the Lord of the said manor to be admitted tenant to the messuage lands and premises so surrendered to his use as aforesaid that is to say To All that the said messuage or tenement and two roods (more or less) of moll land lying in West Walton aforesaid in South field and also all that the said piece or parcel of land marked no. 321 lying in the parish of West Walton aforesaid in Marshland Smeeth containing by admeasurement two acres three roods and twenty perches (more or less) And also to All that the said other piece or parcel of land marked no. 371 lying in the parish of West Walton aforesaid In marshland fen containing by admeasurement six acres and thirty five perches (more or less) hereinbefore severally described (which premises the said John LEWIN, James LEWIN and William LEWIN had and took up to them and their heirs as the coheirs in Gavelkind of the said Richard LEWIN deceased and under the will of the said late John STANTON at this present special court Baron as by the record thereof doth appear) and the said Joseph OLDFIELD is thereupon admitted tenant to the said messuage lands and premises To whom the Lord of the said manor by his said Steward hath delivered seizin thereof by the rod To hold to the said Joseph OLDFIELD and his heirs of the Lord at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said manor by the ancient yearly rents fealty suit of court and all other services for the same due and of right accustomed Saving the rights of &c. and he giveth the Lord for Fines &c. But his fealty is respited until &c."

      27 January 1829. Surrender by Joseph OLDFIELD to the use of his Will at a special Court Baron held on 27 January 1829:
      "And immediately afterwards the said Joseph OLDFIELD a copyhold tenant of the said manor Did in open court surrender out of his hands into the hands of the Lord of the said manor by the hands of his said Steward by the Rod according to the custom thereof All and singular his messuages lands tenements and hereditaments holden of the said manor by copy of court Roll To the Use and Behoof of such person or persons and for such estate and estates uses intents and purposes as the said Joseph OLDFIELD by his last Will and Testament in writing already made or hereafter to be made shall limit declare and direct or appoint give or devise the same"

      "In the name of God Amen this is the last Will and Testament of me Joseph OLDFIELD of West Walton in the County of Norfolk Butcher First I give and devise unto My Dear Beloved Wife Ann OLDFIELD All that my Messuage or Tenement with the Orchard and piece of Land lying under the same situate lying and being in West Walton aforesaid and now in my own occupation And also all those three acres of Land (be the same more or less) situate lying and being in West Walton aforesaid in Marshland Smeeth And also six acres of Land (be the same more or less) situate in West Walton aforesaid in Marshland Fen the last two pieces being common right land and now in my own occupation To hold unto her my said Dear Beloved Wife Ann OLDFIELD her heirs and assigns for ever (subject to the payment and discharge of any Incumbrances and the Interest of any part of the Messuage and Lands by us devised when thereunto required to the Mortgagee) Also I give and bequeath unto my said Dear Beloved Wife Ann OLDFIELD all my Household Furniture Plate Linen Woollen China Wearing Apparel and all other my goods chattels and Effects of what nature or kind soever the same may consist of at the time of my decease to and for her own absolute use benefit and disposal subject nevertheless to and charged and chargeable with the payment of all my just debts due and owing at the time of my decease funeral and testamentary expenses and the charges of proving this my Will and all other expences (sic) relating thereto And lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my said Dear Beloved Wife Ann OLDFIELD sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament and do hereby revoke all other Wills by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I the said Joseph OLDFIELD the Testator have to this sheet of paper set my hand and affixed my seal this twelfth day of February one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine
