      He and his sister Naomi were witnesses at the marriage of Joseph MOULES to their sister Mary EDGOOSE at West Walton on 27 December 1871.

      He married Margaret DAWSON of Bedford Street, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, at St. Augustine's, Wisbech, on 16 January 1872. She was the daughter of Charles DAWSON, a deceased china and glass dealer. Witnesses were William Adam DAWSON and Jane HARRISON.

      Stanton EDGOOSE is listed as a farmer at West Walton in Norfolk directories from 1872 to 1879, as an innkeeper in 1881, as a beerhouse keeper and farmer at the Damhouse in 1883, as a beer retailer at Walton Dam in 1888, and as fruit grower at West Walton in 1912. The Norfolk Public Houses website lists Stanton EDGOOSE at the Dam Inn, West Walton, between 1881 & 1891.
      Halbert EDGOOSE said he lived next door to the Dam House, not in it. Doris Malisande EDGOOSE said he moved next door into the house known as Lyndhurst when he left the Dam House, and later moved to 7 Lerowe Road, Walsoken, Norfolk. She said he was a heavy drinker and that his pony often brought him home from market lying drunk in the bottom of the trap.

      His daughter Kate Agnes EDGOOSE was born at West Walton on 23 May 1874. Stanton EDGOOSE was described as a farmer on her birth certificate. She died in 1952.

      His daughter Mabel Margaret EDGOOSE was born at West Walton on 10 September 1876. Stanton EDGOOSE was described as a farmer on her birth certificate.

      Harrod & Co.'s Royal Location Directory of Norfolk and Lowestoft 1877 lists Stanton EDGOOSE, farmer, at West Walton.

      His daughter Hilda Mary EDGOOSE was born at West Walton on 17 October 1878. Stanton EDGOOSE was described as a farmer and dealer on her birth certificate.

      He was present at the death of his uncle William GRABURN at West Walton on 11 July 1879.

      His son Frank William Dawson EDGOOSE was born at West Walton on 28 February 1882. Stanton EDGOOSE was described as an innkeeper and farmer on his birth certificate. He died in 1951.

      He was listed as 'beerhouse & farmer, Dam house' at West Walton in William White's History, Directory, and Gazetteer of Norfolk 1883.

      Stanton EDGOOSE and Catherine CASH were witnesses to the marriage of John Robson MORRIS and Patience EDGOOSE at Walpole St. Peter, Norfolk, on 6 January 1883. Catherine CASH married Benjamin EDGOOSE at St. Augustine's, Wisbech, on 8 May 1883.

      His daughter Alice Dawson EDGOOSE was born at West Walton on 11 August 1884. She died in 1885. Stanton EDGOOSE was described as a farmer on her birth certificate but as an innkeeper on her death certificate.

      In a poll book for the North West Division of Norfolk 1885-86 Stanton EDGOOSE of the Dam Public House, West Walton, was listed under Occupational voters, qualifying by means of a dwelling house at Church End. (X593)

      His daughter Bertha Janet EDGOOSE was born on 3 April 1887. She died in 1967. Stanton EDGOOSE was described as an innkeeper and farmer on her birth certificate.

      His daughter Jessie Alice EDGOOSE was born at West Walton on 26 August 1888. She died in 1956. Stanton EDGOOSE was described as a farmer and innkeeper on her birth certificate.

      Judgement for 18 16s. 4d. was given against Stanton EDGOOSE, West Walton, Inn Keeper, on 18 November 1892.

      Judgement for 24 5s. 0d. was given against Stanton EDGOOSE of the Dam Inn, West Walton, farmer, on 6 February 1894.

      He was made bankrupt in 1894 (Palmer's Index to The Times: 12 May 1894 Page 8 Column f). His name is listed under 'Adjudications'. There is a reference in PRO BT 293/7 to Stanton EDGOOSE, address West Walton, Norfolk, publican. The court quoted was King's Lynn, number 8, year 94, and a reference to the search index was 27-174. No other documents have been traced. It seems likely, therefore, that he left the Dam Inn in 1894.

      According to the London Gazette Stanton EDGOOSE, a publican of West Walton, Norfolk, filed for bankruptcy on 7 May 1894 and a receiving order was made against him on the same date. The first meeting of creditors and his public examination took place on 13 June 1894. The Trustee, H.P. Gould of 8, King Street, Norwich, was released on 19 December 1894.

      He was described as a fruit grower on Bertie HORACE EDGOOSE's marriage certificate in 1914.

      Stanton J. EDGOOSE died on 19 March 1927 at 7 Lerowe Road, Walsoken, at the age of 82, His death certificate describes him as a retired farmer. His daughter KATE was with him when he died.
