      Julia May EDGOOSE was born at Walsoken, Norfolk, on 28 May 1877, daughter of James and Julia Hannah EDGOOSE.
      (GRO September Q 1877 [LEEDER] Wisbech 03B 605)
      James EDGOOSE had married Julia Hannah LEEDER at Acle, Norfolk, on 4 October 1870.

      In 1881 James and Julia were living in the Lynn Road, Walsoken, Norfolk:
      James EDGOOSE, head, aged 34, gardener, born at West Walton;
      Julia EDGOOSE, wife, aged 30, born at Acle, Norfolk;
      Walter L. EDGOOSE, son, aged 9, scholar, born at Walsoken, Norfolk;
      *Julia M. EDGOOSE, daughter, aged 3, born at Walsoken.

      In 1891 James and Julia Hannah were living at 16 Canal Street, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, with their daughter:
      James EDGOOSE, head, aged 44, gardener, born at West Walton, Norfolk;
      Julia H. EDGOOSE, wife, 40, born at Acle, Norfolk;
      *Julia M. EDGOOSE, daughter, aged 13, scholar, born at Old Walsoken, Norfolk.

      An Appointment of New Trustees of the will of James EDGOOSE dated 21 June 1899 refers to Julia Hannah EDGOOSE of Limpsfield, Oxted, Surrey, and to Julia May EDGOOSE of The Yews, Tilney St. Lawrence, Lynn, Norfolk. Julia May EDGOOSE's address was the same in a Deed of Appointment dated 18 November 1901.

      From the 1901 census of New Field, Tilney St. Lawrence, Norfolk:
      Patience EDGOOSE, head, widow, aged 84, farmer, employer, born at West Walton, Norfolk;
      Mary MOULES, daughter, widow, aged 58, farmer, employer, born at West Walton, Norfolk;
      Patience MOULES, granddaughter, single, aged 26, schoolmistress, at home, born at West Walton, Norfolk;
      Mary Moules, granddaughter, single, aged 26, at home, born at West Walton, Norfolk;
      *Julia EDGOOSE, granddaughter, single, aged 24, living on own means, born at Walsoken, Norfolk.

      On 16 August 1904 she sent a postcard of Lynn Road, Wisbech, to her mother at "The Stores", Edward Street, Aldershot, Hants. : 'Thanks for card I will write a long letter soon. Am now off to Wisbech. How you are getting on All right Much Love Julia'

      In a Deed of Appointment of New Trustees dated 23 December 1910 she was formerly of Tilney St. Laurence but now of Edward Street, Aldershot.

      From the 1911 census of 19 Lime Street, Aldershot, Hampshire:
      Julia Hannah EDGOOSE, head, widow, aged 58, grocers shop, born in Norfolk;
      *Julia May EDGOOSE, daughter, single, aged 32, born at Old Walsoken, Norfolk.

      From the 1939 Register of 44 York Road, Aldershot M.B., Hampshire:
      Julia Hannah EDGOOSE, born 24 August 1850, widowed, incapicitated through age

      In a Deed of Appointment of New Trustees dated 10 April 1948 her address was 44 York Road, Aldershot.

      In later life cataracts impaired her vision and affected her quality of life. Her great niece Mary WEBB ne HOSKING remembered how she used to spend hours repetitively smoothing with her hands a tea towel laid on her lap. She became very upset if anyone tried to take it away. She was deaf but always managed to hear what she wasn't meant to hear.

      She is listed at 44 York Road, Aldershot, In Kent Service Ltd.'s Aldershot Directory for 1955-6. On 26 November 1957 when she gave her nephew Burt Walter EDGOOSE power of attorney she was living at Whitehanger Nursing Home, Marley Lane, Haslemere, Surrey.

      Julia M. EDGOOSE died aged 80 at the Holybourne Nursing Home, Alton, on 14 December 1958.

      Julia May EDGOOSE of 44 York Road, Aldershot, Hampshire, spinster, died on 14 December 1958 at Holybourne Nursing Home, Alton, Hampshire. Letters of Administration were granted at London on 11 March to Edith Naomi EDGOOSE, spinster, and Burt Walter EDGOOSE, company director. Effects 1099 3s. 4d.

      She was buried in Aldershot Cemetery. Her death was reported in the Aldershot News dated 19 December 1958.
