    Alfred James Edgoose (1844-1908), second son of the Reverend Jesse Edgoose, has not been traced in the census enumerations of 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901. He was buried in Denton Cemetery, Manchester, on 19 June 1908. Probate records refer to him as a journeyman cabinet maker.

      Alfred James EDGOOSE was born on 26 January 1844 at Lane End, Stoke upon Trent, Staffordshire, son of Jesse and Eliza EDGOOSE of High Street, Lane End. Jesse EDGOOSE had married Eliza ROWLEY on 11 August 1841.

      Mary EDGOOSE, wife, aged 30, Wesleyan Minister's wife, born at Naburn, Yorkshire;
      *Alfred James EDGOOSE, son, aged 7, born at Longton, Staffordshire;
      Agnes Rowley EDGOOSE, daughter, aged 5, born at Tunstall, Staffordshire;
      Augusta EDGOOSE, daughter, aged 4, born at Leek, Staffordshire;
      Mary JACKSON, servant, aged 19, house servant, born at Osgodby, Yorkshire.

      Alfred J. EDGOOSE, son of Jesse EDGOOSE, was at Kingswood School between 1855 and 1858.

      Harriet ATKIN, servant, aged 14, house servant, born at Cottingwith, Yorkshire.

      He has not been found in the 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses of England and Wales.

      His death aged 63 was registered in 1908.

      He was buried in Denton Cemetery on 19 June 1908. Cemetery records describe him as a 63 year old hatter.

      From the Manchester District Probate Registry:
      BE IT KNOWN that ALFRED JAMES EDGOOSE of 74 Seymour Street Denton near the City of Manchester in the County of Lancaster journeyman Cabinet Maker died there on the 17th day of June 1908 intestate a Bachelor without a Parent AND BE IT FURTHER KNOWN that at the date hereunder written Letters of Administration of all the estate which by law devolves to and invests in the personal representative of the said intestate were granted by His Majesty's High Court of Justice at the District Probate Registry thereof at Manchester to Agnes Rowley EDGOOSE of 53 Crouch Hall Road, Crouch End, Hornsy (sic) in the County of Middlesex Spinster the natural and lawful sister and one of the next of kin of the said intestate.
