      Eliza Ann BOURNE was born in 1843 at Longton, Staffordshire, daughter of John and Ann BOURNE. The birth of an Eliza Alcock BOURNE was registered in 1843.

      She married James EDGOOSE (1837-1881), son of Joel and Mary EDGOOSE, at Longton on 1 October 1865. She was described as a 22 year old (i.e. born 1842 or 1843) spinster, a transferer, of 13 St. John Street, Longton, daughter of John BOURNE, miner. Joel EDGOOSE and Julia FINNEY who married on the same day at the same church were witnesses. Julia FINNEY had been lodging with the BOURNE family.

      She died of phthisis at Middle John Street, Longton, on 17 October 1867 aged 24 (i.e. born 1842 or 1843) . Ann BOURNE of Middle John Street informed the registrar. She was said to be the wife of Thomas (sic) EDGOOSE, coalminer.

      A black bordered memorial card bore the invitation: "You are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral, on Sunday, the 20th inst., at 10 o'clock. Interment at St. James's Church, at 1/2 past 12 o'clock."
      "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord."

      She was buried at St. James' Church on 20 October 1867.
