Humbly sheweth unto your grace your dayly Orato(r) and suppliant Gilbert ECCLESTON of London, Goldsmyth,
That wher(e) on(e) Robert MOSELEY, bruer, helde of your(e) orator a Brewhouse in the Towne of Thystelworth in the Countie of Midd(lesex) and certen ten(emen)tes belongyng to the same, and also certen Impleme(n)tes app(er)teyning to the seid brewhouse, for t(er)me of certen yeres, paying therforr(e) yer(ely) to your(e) orato(r) £4 3s 4d,
Whech Rob(ert) MOSELEY reconed w(i)t(h) your(e) orator the 6th day of March, the forthe yere of the reigne of our(e) sov(er)aigne lord the kyng that nowe ys, for the seid ferme and arrerages of the same,
And theruppon, beforr(e) S(ir) John(e) LAWLES, p(re)st, Rob(er)t ASHELEY, mercer, John WATSON, Thomas ALEXAND(ER) and John ASPLEYN(E), was founde in arrerage of £22 10d wherof he then contented unto your(e) seid orato(r) £3 6s 8d, p(ar)cell of the seid £22 10d.
And after your(e) seid oratour sende James JERRARD, Alex(ander) HARRYNGTON and Thomas EGGERTON, his s(er)v(au)ntes, to distreyne the seide Rob(er)t, aswell for the arrerages due beforr(e) the seid 6th day of March, as for the rent due aft(er) the seid 6th day,
And when(e) they s(er)v(au)ntes of your seid besecher came to Thyselworth, and wold have distreyned the same Robert for the seid Rent and arrerages therof, ther(e) came unto the seid s(er)v(au)ntes of your(e) suppliant on(e) Rauff WYLDE, smyth, Richard ETGOSE and Richard POTTER, beyng nyght frendes of the seid Robert MOSELEY, and dissired theym(e) to spare and nott to distreyne the seid Rob(er)t, p(ro)mysyng the s(er)v(au)ntes of your(e) suppliant that they wolde be suerties to yo(urur) suppliant, aswell for the sur(e) payment of the seid rent and arrerages of the same beforr the Fest of All Sentes then next Cumyng, as for the delyv(er)e and sufficient repayring of all the vessels, Implements and necessaries belongyng to the same bruehouse, to be hadde and made beforr(e) the seid Fest of All Sentes, and forther then p(ro)mysed that they wold pay mytt theym self rather then hit shuld be unpayd at the seid Fest,
And theruppon the s(er)v(au)ntes of your suppliant distreyned nott the same Rob(er)t MOSELEY, but dep(ar)ted, trustyng feithfully to the p(ro)myse made to theym by the seid Rauf WYLD, Ric(hard) ETGOSE and Ric(hard) POTTER, and after Came to your(e) suppliant and made relac(i)on to hym of ther seid p(ro)mise, wherw(i)t(h) yo(ur) suppliant was content, trustyng sur(e)ly that they wold se hym suerly payd of the arrerages of his seide ferme, and also delyv(er)e made of the seid Implementes,
And so hit ys, gud and g(ra)ciose lord, that the seid Rob(er)t MOSELEY ye dyed, and hath nott leeft sufficient of goodes to content your(e) suppliant his seid arrerages and duyte, and also to make delyv(er)e of the seyde Impleme(n)tes sufficiently repared,
And your(e) seid orato(r) div(er)s tymes syns the day of payment by the seid Rauf, Ric(hard) and Ric(hard) POTTER appoynted for the co(n)tentac(i)on of the same rent and arrerages and also deliv(er)e of the seid Implementes, hath requyred payment of the seid arrerages and rent of the same Rauf, Ric(hard) and Ric(hard) POTT(ER), and also delyv(er)e of the seyde Implementes sufficiently repared, according to ther(e) p(ro)mise, and they that to make or content utt(er)ly refuse and denye,
And in as much as yo(ur) seid orato(r) hath noo wrytyng under ther(e) seelles for to bynde theym(e) by cours of the Co(mm)en lawe, but onely a bill assigned w(i)t(h) ther(e) handes testifying ther(e) seid p(ro)myse, youre suppliant hath therforr(e) noo remedy to recov(er)e ayenst theym(e) the seid arrerages nor duyte by order of the co(mm)en lawe uppon ther(e) seid p(ro)myse;
